On 10 March 2019, an Ethiopia Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 took off from Addis Ababa for Nairobi Kenya but crashed near the town of Bishoftu six minutes after takeoff. 157 people aboard died in the crash. After the accident, Boeing 737 MAX aircraft was grounded by aviation authorities all over the world. The flight was affected by wrong values delivered by the left hand AoA sensor prompting the MCAS system to provide automatic, repeated and large nose down trim input.
The investigation is being performed by multiple agencies including the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA), the agency responsible for investigating civil aviation accidents in Ethiopia, the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC), the aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, the United States National Transportation Safety Board and the United States Federal Aviation Administration.
The cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder were recovered from the crash site on 11 March.

No accident has a single cause. It is the result of a chain of events, all of which, as contributing factors, bear responsibility. There is ongoing controversy and examination of the airline regulators, those responsible for flight training and training systems, pilots, manufacturers of all components including, of course, the plane itself.
